Start with a walk-through
Before packing, check cupboards, drawers, bathroom storage, outdoor compartments, and the area beneath furniture. Make a short list of items that need to come home, be cleaned, or be stored for the season.
Secure the interior
Close and latch cupboards, secure loose items, and follow the manufacturer’s guidance for appliances, windows, vents, and slide-outs. Remove perishables and rubbish, and make sure surfaces are dry before shutting the RV.
Handle utilities carefully
Disconnect electrical, water, and sewer connections in the sequence required by the equipment and campground. Wear appropriate protection when handling wastewater equipment and follow disposal rules. If anything leaks or looks damaged, stop and ask for assistance.
Leave the site clean and safe
Pack away chairs, mats, cooking equipment, and toys. Check that nothing has been left in shared spaces, keep access routes clear, and dispose of waste properly. Follow campground instructions for fires and ashes.
Record maintenance while it is fresh
Note anything that needs repair, restocking, or checking before the next trip. Take photos of damage or equipment you want to replace, and save receipts or service information in one place.
If this is the final visit of the season
Complete the full winterization process required for your RV, rather than relying only on a normal departure checklist. Confirm site departure and storage rules with the resort, and use qualified help for unfamiliar systems.
Every RV and campground has its own requirements. Check your owner’s manual, current local guidance, and resort policies before making safety, maintenance, or booking decisions.
